Corporate Socially Responsibility at RocSearchRocSearch India launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in early 2007. Partnering with a national-level venture philanthropist, Smile Foundation, we support Smile’s ‘Nai Disha’ project – a school providing free education to nearly 400 under-privileged children in Noida.RocSearch employees have been actively volunteering to conduct interactive workshops for the Nai Disha children. We now intend to arrange sports days for these children, organize arts and craft competitions, celebrate festivals at the school and sponsor achievers, apart from facilitating the entry of Nai Disha children at mainstream schools and organizing textbooks and other study material for them. The CSR initiative has also enabled employees to bond better. Priyanka, a founder-member of the RocSearch CSR team, says: “I know many of my colleagues much better now. Volunteering at Nai Disha has enabled me to interact with colleagues who are otherwise outside my immediate work circle.” “We are all so involved with work and family commitments that we often forget to look beyond ourselves. However, after visiting the school and interacting with the children, I realized that there is a world out there where I can make a difference by just taking out a little time. I am glad that RocSearch has given me a chance to involve myself in such initiatives,” explains Manoop, a CSR team member. A Successful Clothes Donation Campaign – Nov 2007 This winter employees of RocSearch got together to give their spare/unused clothing to the needy assuring a warm winter for many. All contributions were pooled towards a campaign, 'Vastra-Dan', by a NGO called Goonj. Initiated in 1998, GOONJ has won the prestigious Changemakers Award twice for its initiatives 'SCHOOL to SCHOOL' and its disaster relief work 'Rahat'. Its initiative 'Not just a piece of cloth' - providing clean cloth sanitary napkins for village women has won the prestigious DM award from the World Bank. Below is Goonj's commitment that RocSearch is now a part of: By 1st January 2008, no one across 100 such villages of Bihar will be seen without clothes. Approximately 1, 00,000 kgs of extra material is required by GOONJ to take care of this, only along with its present commitment to hundreds of other villages across the country. GOONJ has already sent about 8000 kgs of material to achieve this target in the last few weeks. Villagers have started cleaning their villages, and in return for this work, they receive new clothes for the entire family.
